After 1900

The ruins of Helfštýn Castle were much visited in the 19th century and the first serious attempt at opening them to the public was made in the 1850s, but systematic safety works did not start until 1911.

Helfštýn was included in the list of state castles after World War II, as a significant historical site. Relatively extensive safety works were carried out, which included a systematic art-history and archaeological survey of the site that contributed substantially to clarification of the castle’s past.
