History of Helfštýn Castle

Already at the end of the 18th century, the extensive ruins of Helfštýn Castle, towering above the Moravian Gate valley, led romanticising historians to false reasoning about the castle’s founding in the distant past.

Observation Tower

The Hussite Tower that now serves as an observation tower is located in the third courtyard, also known as the Kravaře Bailey. The tower with 77 stairs was completed in 2002 according to a design by the architect Zdeněk Gardavský. It was originally built by the House of Kravaře, supporters of the Hussite movement.
